Here's something nobody tells you when your walking starts to change:
Everyday walking shoes are not designed for the way you walk now.
Every shoe on the market is built for a foot that lifts cleanly off the floor. Yours doesn't. It may be off by less than half an inch, too little to notice, but that can be the difference between a clean step and a stumble.
So your toe may catch on the carpet edge, the doorway strip, or maybe even nothing at all. When you look back to find what you tripped on, you decide it was nothing and don't mention it to anyone.
But it was never just carelessness; you may just need new shoes.
Most walking shoes are built around one idea: traction. Shoe companies are terrified of you slipping, so they cover the whole sole in rubber and tread that grips hard. This is great when you can lift your feet, but not so great if you shuffle or scrape the ground.
When your toe scrapes the ground, that grip works against you. Your foot stops dead, and the rest of you keeps moving.
So after a close call, most people go buy shoes with MORE grip, because they've filed the problem under "slipping." Then the catching gets even worse.
The fix isn't more traction, it's smarter traction.
Ask around and people describe it almost the same way every time:
If you've started marching without deciding to, your body already knows the front of your foot isn't clearing the ground, and it came up with a fix on its own. The fix works, but it takes a lot out of you. That's why your legs get tired sooner than they used to, and why your day keeps getting shorter.
When you take a step, your foot doesn't stay flat. As your leg swings forward, a muscle in the front of your shin pulls your toes up, just enough to clear the floor. You have never once thought about it, because it's supposed to happen on its own.
But when that muscle gets weaker, or fires a split second late, the front of your foot hangs lower as it swings. You won't see it happen. It's usually less than half an inch.
Unfortunately, half an inch is all it takes to catch your foot and stumble.
This has a name: foot drop. Most of the time it comes from the muscles in your shin getting weaker with age, a pinched nerve, or a back problem you've had for years.
Wear the shoes on your own floors for 30 days to decide if they are right for you. If they aren't, or if you need another size, contact us and we'll refund you and get you a new size (or style).
So you have half an inch less clearance than you used to, and a sole built to grab the floor. The first one is hard to change, but the second one isn't.
Unlike ordinary shoes, Cadense features a unique sole with adaptive nylon pucks that glide smoothly over obstacles. When you need traction, the shoe provides it instantly.
How, you may ask? The shoe is broken down into three components, all specifically designed to help you glide when you need to and grip when you need to.
The sole's low-friction zone lets your foot glide over the surface instead of catching — no matter if it's carpet, tile, or sidewalk.
The high-friction grip zone engages instantly, holding firm so you can stand, push off, and change direction with confidence.
The transition foam smooths the shift between glide and grip, so the shoe works with your stride — not against it.
Cadense shoes go where you go. They work well indoors and outdoors on almost any surface. Tripping hazards like uneven pavement, low pile carpet, door gaps, and others will soon be a thing of the past.
When your foot can glide instead of catch, you can handle just about any surface around your house (except ice, and even Cadense hasn't figured that one out yet).
Say goodbye to ugly orthopedic footwear and hello to gorgeous adaptive sneakers. The Cadense design team implemented the latest and greatest fashion trends to make sure you will walk better and look amazing.
Cadense has styles for men and women, both regular and wide sizing, and many colors, so there is truly something for everyone.
Cadense shoes are designed for single-hand use! Getting them on and taking them off is super easy. Use the little loop on the velcro tab for easy opening and closing. You'll be on your way in seconds!
If one side of your body is weaker, or bending down to your foot is the hard part, this is the thing that decides whether a shoe actually gets worn.
You should be careful about a shoe you found in your Facebook feed, so here is what's behind this one:
