Cadense at CES 2026: A New Vision for Aging Mobility and Independence

In January 2026, Cadense was honored to be invited to showcase at CES 2026 as part of the AARP AgeTech Collaborative booth in Las Vegas, Nevada. Represented by Kathy Odell, Johannes Sauer, and Dr. Tyler Susko, our team joined an inspiring group of innovators shaping what aging can look like in the years ahead.

This year’s AgeTech theme captured the momentum perfectly:

“Disruptive tech. A new vision for aging.”

CES 2026 wasn’t just about gadgets or future concepts. It was about practical, human-centered technology that helps people stay active, independent, and connected — and Cadense was proud to be part of that conversation.

The AgeTech Moment at CES 2026

The AARP AgeTech Collaborative brought together thought leaders, industry experts, startups, and advocates working across wellness, prevention, and longevity. From mobility and fall prevention to sleep, stress reduction, and everyday independence, the focus was clear: empowering adults 50+ to live fully, confidently, and on their own terms.

Cadense was invited to participate alongside other forward-thinking startups in the Wellness & Prevention category — a space dedicated to solutions that help people stay active and engaged before mobility challenges become limiting.

Thousands of Steps One Shared Reaction

Over the course of CES, thousands of people visited our kiosk and tried on Cadense shoes. Many arrived curious. Almost all left smiling.

The most common reaction we heard?

“Wow — this is so cool. My mom (or dad, or friend) needs this.”

That moment — when someone instantly understands how a simple change in friction can make walking feel easier and safer — is exactly why Cadense exists. Seeing that realization happen again and again was incredibly meaningful for our team.

People weren’t just fascinated by the technology. They were excited by the fact that Cadense looks like a modern, stylish athletic sneaker, not a medical device. Time and again, attendees told us how much they appreciated that the innovation was hidden inside a shoe they’d actually want to wear.

Conversations That Matter

CES 2026 created space for some powerful conversations. Our team met with:

Media outlets, including conversations with Jen Jolly from the Today Show and journalists from Forbes, CNN, and beyond

Senior living operators exploring ways to support mobility and fall prevention

AgeTech organizations and ecosystem partners working to redefine aging through thoughtful design and innovation

One of the most memorable moments? The CEO of AARP herself stopped by and tried on a pair of Cadense shoes. It was a powerful reminder that mobility touches everyone — personally and professionally — and that progress happens when leaders engage directly with the solutions they champion.

Designed for Real Life

At Cadense, our mission is simple: help people move with more confidence and less fear of falling.

Dr. Tyler Susko, Cadense’s co-founder and CTO, spent CES discussing how our patented Variable Friction Technology works — allowing the shoe to glide when the foot moves forward and grip when it’s time to step. But just as important as the engineering was the response to our design philosophy.

Cadense shoes don’t look like assistive devices — and that’s intentional. We believe dignity, style, and function should coexist. CES attendees reinforced what our community already knows: when technology fits seamlessly into everyday life, people are far more likely to use it.

Hear It Directly From Our Team

Throughout the event, we captured conversations and reflections from the show floor.

What CES 2026 Reinforced for Us

CES confirmed something we deeply believe:

• Aging deserves better design
• Mobility should feel empowering, not stigmatizing
• Innovation matters most when it shows up in everyday moments

To everyone who stopped by our kiosk, tried on a pair, shared a story, or told us who in their life could benefit — thank you. Your enthusiasm fuels our mission.

We’re excited about what’s ahead and grateful to be building it alongside such a thoughtful, passionate community.
