Why we made this shoe

We have designed the first truly adaptive shoe in the world for people with walking difficulties. Often they can't lift their foot enough to clear the ground when taking a step forward. In order to not trip they shuffle or develop a different coping mechanism.

Our Cadense Original Adaptive Shoe features groundbreaking, patented variable friction technology. It allows its wearer to slide over obstacles with ease and develop a more normal gait.

But we have not stopped there. We made sure that the first truly adaptive shoe also feels like walking on clouds and looks stunning.

Product Details

AFO compatibility: Our shoes might work with your AFO depending on its size. If you currently are able to fit your AFO into a shoe in a regular or Wide (E) width shoe, it should work with Cadense shoes.

Toe box: Our toe box is very generously spaced.

Weight of the shoe: About 13 oz per shoe – Men's size 9 was used as reference.

Heel to Toe Drop: Standard 3/8".

Shoe sole height: Our shoe sole measures about 1.5 inches throughout. The height is needed to allow the variable friction technology to work properly and it also makes for a very comfortable walking experience.

MS Foot Drop

These shoes are amazing. I have MS and use Electric Stim (Bioness L300 GO) device for my foot drop daily, but sometimes it is nice not to wear it and that is what these shoes allow me to do. I wear these around the house w/o my electric stim device and feel very safe and free from tripping/falling. They also seem to give me some relief from the neuropathy in my feet! I purchased another pair to use for outside as well. Well worth the money

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! It’s wonderful to hear how Cadense shoes are providing you with the support and freedom to move safely without your electric stim device. Knowing that they help you feel secure and even provide some relief from neuropathy is truly heartwarming.

Your decision to purchase a second pair for outdoor use means so much to us, and we’re thrilled to hear they’re worth the investment for you. If you ever have questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out at support@cadense.com.

Wishing you continued comfort, confidence, and ease in every step!

Comfortable, well-made, but noisy

I have tried a number of different kinds of shoes, to help with neuropathy, including cheap barefoot shoes, mid-range wide toe-box traditional shoes, and the pricey Cadense shoes. None of them were perfect, all of them were helpful to some degree. But the only ones I was dissatisfied with were the Cadense shoes, for one reason — they are very noisy when I walk oh hard surfaces, and noisiest when walking on the bare hardwood floors in my house. Every step ends with a loud, FLOP noise that I find maddening. I attribute this to the combination of the low heel and the material used to make the slippery front sole.

To be fair, the barefoot shoes have a similar characteristic. But they are not as noisy because their entire sole is made of the same soft rubbery material.

I’m curious to know if my experience is typical.

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful and detailed feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the noise from your Cadense shoes has been a source of frustration, especially on your hardwood floors. While the low heel and variable-friction sole are designed to support smoother walking and reduce tripping, we understand how important it is for the experience to be as quiet and comfortable as possible in all settings.

Your curiosity about whether this is typical is valid, and while some customers do notice sound differences depending on their flooring, it’s not something everyone experiences. We truly value your input, and it helps us as we continue refining our designs.

If you’d like, our customer support team can explore ways to help, such as tips for walking in the shoes to minimize noise. Feel free to reach out at support@cadense.com—we’re here to assist you!

Thank you again for giving Cadense a try and for sharing your insights with us. We wish you all the best in your journey toward finding solutions that work best for you.

Frequently asked questions

Who are Cadense adaptive shoes for?

We have created the Cadense Original adaptive sneaker for people experiencing walking difficulties. Our shoe may help seniors with walking difficulties, individuals experiencing foot drop, stroke patients, people with multiple-sclerosis, or cerebral palsy.

How do Cadense Adaptive shoes work?

Cadense adaptive shoes use our proprietary, patent-pending variable friction technology.

Low-friction elements on the shoe sole allow you the slide over everyday obstacles like uneven pavements. High friction rubber parts get activated when weight is placed on the shoe and allow you to stop and toe-off as needed.
