We recently sat down with Meagan George, PT, DPT, NCS, co-founder of NeuroLab360, on The Mobility Mission podcast. Meagan shared her journey into neurologic physical therapy and her passion for making rehabilitation more accessible through innovative, non-profit care.
One of the most exciting parts of our conversation was hearing how Meagan has tested Cadense Adaptive Shoes with her patients. She shared insights on who benefits most from the shoes and how adaptive footwear is transforming rehabilitation for people with foot drop, balance issues, and neurological challenges.
We also explored the future of neuro rehab, discussing new technologies and the changes needed to enhance patient care. Plus, Meagan gave some great advice on staying balanced as a PT, emphasizing the importance of self-care in such a demanding field.
We recently hosted a live Q&A session with our community to address your most pressing questions and concerns about Cadense Adaptive Shoes. Whether you're curious about driving with them, wondering how they hold up on different surfaces, or looking for tips on sizing and support, we’ve got you covered!
Let’s dive into some of the most common questions we received from our incredible community members.
Mary: I'd like to hear what others think of the shoes. I had a stroke last May and I'm starting to walk without my AFO.
Answer: Mary, we’re so happy to hear about your progress! Our community is full of inspiring stories from people who have transitioned away from AFOs while using Cadense shoes. While it varies from person to person, many have shared that the shoes help them feel more stable and confident when walking. You can check out more customer stories on our website and social media pages to see how others are benefiting from the shoes!
Marcia: Can you drive while wearing these shoes?
Answer: Yes, you can drive while wearing Cadense Adaptive Shoes, but we recommend exercising extra caution. The variable friction technology may feel different compared to traditional sneakers, so it’s important to make sure you’re fully comfortable walking in them before getting behind the wheel. Start by practicing in a safe, controlled environment to get used to how they feel on the pedals.
Lisa: Is there anywhere that I can try them before buying them? I'm in WA State.
Answer: Currently, Cadense Adaptive Shoes are only available for purchase online through our website. We understand the desire to try them on first, which is why we offer a 30-day risk-free trial period. If they don’t work out for you, you can return them hassle-free.
Customer Question: When are you planning on adding half sizes in wide shoes for sizes over 11?
Answer: We’re always working on expanding our size offerings and appreciate your feedback. We will be launching half sizes in wide in the near future. Please stay tuned.
Frank: My left leg is very weak and drags while walking. Your shoes help with that, but is there an option for just one shoe with the glide feature?
Answer: Currently, all Cadense shoes feature the adaptive glide technology on both feet, as it’s integral to the design. Our team is working on a unilateral solution at the moment.
Customer Question: Will Cadense shoes be sturdy enough to support an ankle weakened from back surgery and chronic injury without a brace?
Answer: While Cadense shoes are designed to support mobility and reduce tripping, they are not specifically structured for significant ankle support. If you’re uncertain, we recommend discussing your needs with a healthcare professional to see if the shoes would complement your existing support devices.
Cathy asks:
- Is it normal to feel muscle fatigue or soreness when first wearing Cadense shoes?
- How do I transition from baby steps to a normal gait?
- How long does it take to walk normally in them?
Answer: It’s normal to feel some muscle fatigue or mild soreness when first using Cadense shoes, especially if they’re encouraging you to use muscles differently than before. Start slow, taking short walks around your home to build confidence. It can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to feel completely comfortable, depending on your condition and walking habits.
Sylvia: I can walk for 10-15 minutes before my legs tire. Will Cadense shoes help with my energy levels?
Answer: Cadense shoes are designed to make walking more efficient and reduce tripping risks, which can help conserve energy. Many customers report feeling less fatigued because they’re not expending as much effort to maintain balance and stability. Give them a try and see how they work for you!
Callie: I love my shoes! They’re a game changer for me with foot drop. I just wish there were more colors to pick from.
Answer: We’re so glad you love them, Callie! We’re always listening to feedback and exploring new color options to keep our lineup fresh. Stay tuned for announcements about new releases!
Danielle: I love the Champagne color! Will you ever make pink shoes?
Answer: We’re so glad you love the Champagne color! Yes, we will restock our Pink colorway in September. You can preorder a pair now.
