Why We Made This Shoe

We created AERIO to bring our adaptive technology into a summer-ready silhouette—without sacrificing stability, comfort, or style.

For many people with walking difficulties, warm-weather footwear can feel like a compromise. Slides are easy to get on but lack security. Sandals offer support but are hard to fasten. So we designed something entirely new: the world’s first adaptive Sandal-Slide Hybrid, made specifically for people who need a little extra help walking safely and confidently.

With our patented Variable Friction Technology, AERIO helps you glide over obstacles more easily and walk more naturally. Whether you’re heading out for a sunny stroll, poolside hangout, or beach day, AERIO adapts to your needs—strap on for support or slide in for ease.

Product Details

AFO compatibility: Our shoes might work with your AFO depending on its size. If you currently are able to fit your AFO into a shoe in a regular or Wide (E) width shoe, it should work with Cadense shoes.

Toe box: Our toe box is very generously spaced.

Weight of the shoe: About 13 oz per shoe – Men's size 9 was used as reference.

Heel to Toe Drop: Standard 3/8".

Shoe sole height: Our shoe sole measures about 1.5 inches throughout. The height is needed to allow the variable friction technology to work properly and it also makes for a very comfortable walking experience.

What surfaces can I walk on with AERIO?

AERIO uses the same Variable Friction Technology found in our Cadense Original sneaker. It’s designed to work on indoor and outdoor surfaces like low-pile carpet, hardwood, tile, pavement, and concrete. We recommend using extra caution on wet or slippery surfaces—just like you would with any slide or sandal.

Is AERIO available in wide or narrow widths?

AERIO is designed in one flexible width. The large, adjustable front velcro flap provides a customized fit for many foot shapes.

If you usually wear wide shoes, there’s a good chance AERIO will still work for you.

Can I walk long distances in AERIO?

Yes—AERIO was built for both support and comfort on the go. Whether you’re headed out for a walk or just need something easy to wear around the house or pool, AERIO is made to move with you.

How do I switch from sandal to slide?

The heel strap is fully removable. Just unfasten the side tabs and lift the strap off—it only takes seconds. When you want more support again, slide it back through the loops and reattach.

Does AERIO run true to size?

Yes, AERIO generally runs true to size. If you're between sizes, we recommend sizing up for a more comfortable fit—especially if you plan to wear them with socks.
