Every quarter, we gather with you — our Cadense community — to listen, share updates, and answer your most pressing questions. These Q&A sessions are some of my favorite moments. They remind us why we’re here: to empower mobility, to innovate together, and to listen closely to your feedback.

This fall’s Q&A was especially exciting, with new launches, restock news, and a lively discussion about technology, fit, and future plans. Here are the highlights.

Big Announcements from Cadense

UK Launch in October

We’re thrilled to share that Cadense will officially launch in the UK in mid-October 2025. Customers will be able to preorder soon. To get early access notifications, please email support@cadense.co.uk.

Restock of the Original Sneaker & Pink Colorway

At the end of next week, we’ll restock the Original Sneaker in the U.S. — including a return of the beloved Pink Colorway. We’ve heard how much you’ve been waiting for this, and we’re excited to get them back on your feet.

Introducing the Havena Slipper

Your feedback inspired us to expand beyond sneakers and sandals. This October, we’ll launch the Havena Slipper — our first adaptive slipper. It’s designed with a softer, more feminine style in mind, available initially in Chestnut and Sand. While this first model is women’s-only, we’re exploring future slipper styles for everyone. Like all Cadense products, it features our Variable Friction Technology, making it both comfortable indoors and capable outdoors.

Coaches Program Expansion

We also reminded everyone about our Coaches Program, free for Physical Therapists and Doctors. This program gives clinicians access to research insights, beta testing opportunities, and educational resources to better support their patients using Cadense. If you work with a provider, please let them know.

Technology Deep Dive: Variable Friction in Action

Sep 25, 2025

Dr. Tyler Susko, my co-founder, explained again what makes Cadense unique: Variable Friction Technology. This sole design allows shoes to glide when your foot swings and grip when you put weight down. Originally developed in Tyler’s robotics lab at UCSB, this innovation helps reduce tripping risk, supports smoother gait patterns, and opens new opportunities for rehabilitation.

Top Community Questions We Answered

Training Heel-Toe Walking

Cathy asked about training heel-toe walking while dealing with foot drop and tightness. Tyler emphasized working with a neurological physical therapist and highlighted our new seven-step professional course that helps PTs integrate Cadense shoes into gait training.

Concerns About Soreness

Some users reported soreness after wearing Cadense. We explained this is often similar to starting a new exercise program — new muscles are activated. The soreness typically eases as strength builds, but if it persists, consult a PT.

Balance & Stability

Several community members worried about feeling “slippery” on hard floors. Tyler shared techniques like the “testing the waters” exercise and focusing on walking rhythm, both of which help build trust in the shoes.

Toe Drag & Sole Durability

Steve and Eugene asked about toe drag and sole wear. The solution: our Toe Assist Kit, which extends the life of the sole for heavy toe-draggers. We also shared results from durability testing at UC Santa Barbara — Cadense shoes performed on par with or better than leading sneakers.

AFO Compatibility & New Sneaker

Jim and others asked about AFO use. While current Cadense shoes can work with some braces, we’ve been developing a dedicated AFO sneaker for over two years. With wide openings and three width options (E, 3E, 6E), it makes fitting an AFO easier than ever. We plan to launch in early 2026.

Insurance Coverage & Affordability

Michaela and others asked why Cadense isn’t covered by insurance. We’re actively working toward this through clinical trials and partnerships, with the goal of Medicare coverage in the future. In the meantime, our shoes are eligible for HSA and FSA accounts.

Other Fit & Design Requests

From lace adjustability to ankle support and half sizes — we heard you. We explained current solutions (such as swap-out lace kits) and shared that ankle support is an area we’re exploring in early R&D.

What’s Next for Cadense

We’re not stopping here. From slippers to AFO sneakers to additional styles in 2026 and beyond, we’re committed to innovating in adaptive footwear. Most importantly, we’ll continue listening to your voices — because every product we create starts with your needs.

In Closing

Thank you to everyone who joined the Q&A, asked questions, and shared feedback. With over 30,000 happy customers and nearly 100,000 in our community, we’re humbled and motivated every day to help people walk with more confidence.

If you missed the session, a recording will be shared soon. And as always, our team is here for you at support@cadense.com.

Here’s to walking forward, together. 🩵
